ATTENTION MEMBERS ....
We are sharing the following position of The IA/President Loeb concerning Covid-19, with the understanding that protocols may vary based on state law, venue, and employer requirements.
"As our temporarily slowed economy has begun to reopen, we must continue to recognize the severity of the COVID-19 crisis and the lethality of this contagion. In recognition of the newly emerging coronavirus cases linked to certain reopened businesses, facilities, and other institutions, we must strive for safety in our workplaces. There is no room for error. We know now that stringent practices can minimize the risks of outbreaks, which have forced repeated or continued closures in some regions and sectors. We know first-hand the economic devastation caused by COVID-19. The IATSE has never experienced a near total shutdown of all of our industries at one time. Therefore, we must do everything we can to avoid any further closures of our industries.
In accordance with Article Seven, Section 14 of the IATSE International Constitution, I am issuing the following directive:
With regard to members working under IATSE International and/or IATSE local union collective bargaining agreements, members must comply with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines, including mask-wearing; proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE); adherence to hand washing and social distancing; and all other appropriate protective measures aimed at stopping the spread of the disease.
Failing to follow all COVID-19 safety guidelines is conduct unbecoming, amongst other violations, and may subject members to discipline pursuant to Article Sixteen of the IATSE Constitution as well as termination from work by your employer.
The IATSE International does not take these actions lightly. Recognizing the life-threatening health and economic crises posed by COVID-19 and the singularly unprecedented impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the IATSE International, our members, and our families, we take these extreme, zero tolerance, measures to protect the safety of members and all workers under IATSE and/or IATSE local union collective bargaining agreements."
In solidarity,
Matthew D. Loeb
IATSE International President

It’s been a very very long spring and summer, and an “idle & dry time”
for most of us, considering many of us have all been stricken from pursuing
our means of living, livelihood, and passion of working in the
entertainment industry. Now is a great time to get some much needed training
under our belt as we anticipate that our craft will at some
future time return to business as we knew it.
We sure do appreciate Local 127’s diligence and hospitality in providing this
training to us, and for making it so very easy for our members to participate.
Please take advantage of this great training opportunity and
contact Gregg Pearlman before the class fills up!

RELIEF LINKS:
CONGRESS PASSES 'CARES" ACT PROVIDING
IMMEDIATE ECONOMIC RELIEF FOR ENTERTAINMENT WORKERS:
In this challenging time, we are pleased to highlight the below press release
regarding the successful passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief,
and Economic Security “CARES” Act by Congress:
https://www.iatse.net/news/congress-passes-cares-act-providing-immediate-economic-relief-entertainment-workers
In addition, here is the National Employment Law Project factsheet
on the unemployment provisions in the “CARES” Act:
https://www.nelp.org/publication/unemployment-insurance-provisions-coronavirus-aid-relief-economic-security-cares-act/
This bill will provide tangible and immediate economic relief for entertainment workers across the United States. Most notably, the bill increases and extends unemployment benefits, sends one time direct payments, establishes the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program for those who would otherwise not qualify, and increases federal arts funding.
While many entertainment workers were not eligible for the relief in earlier pieces of COVID-19 legislation, we won access to economic relief through over 107,000 emails by IATSE members and allies, calls, social media posts, and other outreach to Members of Congress. Thank you to all of you who emailed your legislators and facilitated outreach to have your brothers, sisters, and kin do the same. We all share in this victory.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR LOCAL 204 PRESIDENT
"A CALL TO COMPASSION & BROTHERLY LOVE"
I am very encouraged that the International
has developed a program that aligns with the way most
of us should already be treating our brothers
and sisters, as well as the more vulnerable among us.
I’m prayerful this isn’t a new concept for us.
- I have several seniors on my street and have stayed in contact
shopping for essentials. l’m adding the below solicitation from
"The International for "C.A.R.E.S. Volunteers" to our Facebook Page as well.
We always need to be looking out for and caring for one another.
This is a good reminder for all of us to serve/continue serving,
especially more so during times of increased anxiety, insecurity,
and stress. My continued prayers are with our
Local 204 Brothers/Sisters/Family. Please don't hesitate
to reach out to us if you have any concerns.

President
A MESSAGE FROM: "IATSE C.A.R.E.S. Task Force"
- Dear IATSE members,
- With COVID-19 ravaging communities and industries across the world,
- we need to provide support to our most at-risk, elderly, and disabled members. To that end, the International has launched C.A.R.E.S.
- (Coronavirus Active Response and Engagement Service),
- a new initiative to organize mutual aid amongst us for
- the most vulnerable of our sisters and brothers.
- Our efforts will be centered around a new website: iatsecares.org.
- The initiative establishes a “Buddy System”, where members in need
- may request for a volunteer to call them at the
- frequency of their choice.
- The initiative also establishes a delivery system,
- where members in need can have a trusted volunteer
- deliver groceries, prescriptions, and other necessary
- supplies within 72 hours.
- But for this to work, first we need volunteers to help.
- Can you register to volunteer on our new site?
- Sign up to volunteer here.
- Once we get a large enough volunteer base to support
- our mutual aid efforts we will begin rolling out the site
- to the broader membership to reach members in need!
- In solidarity,
- The IATSE C.A.R.E.S. Task Force
